Myer Creek Park

Myer Creek Park is one of the larger county/city parks in Kentucky. It has a 4-H Activity Center, outdoor arena, covered demonstration area, miles of horseback riding trails, nature walks, six pavilions, two historic log structures, picnic areas with BBQ grills, restroom facilities and a tractor pull area.

Picnic Shelters:

Large Shelters (4) - reserved: $10/4 hr., $30/all day
Small Shelters (4) - reserved: $5/4 hr., $10/all day
All shelters have tables, BBQ grills, water, lights and 120v receptacles

Camping Around Bath House and Park Entrance: (3 Day Limit)

12 RV (50'x25') 50 amp & water (around bath house): $20/day
12 RV (50'x15') 30 amp & water (across from bath house): $15/day
RV - no electrical hookup/only water: $10/day
14 Camping with 120v/water nearby (along entrance road): $8/day
Camping (without 120v/water nearby): $5/day
All reservation rates include access to bath house with showers, sanitary dump station for RVs, and shelters located anywhere at the park on a first-come basis that are not otherwise reserved.

Riding/hiking Trails:

Almost 4 miles of marked trails are open at no fee.
The riding arena is available if not in use by 4-H Horse Club members at no fee.

RV Sites Under Construction:

There are 8 pads now rocked in phase I with a total of 12 new RV sites in phase I that are located in the lower east corner of the woods as shown on the master plan. There will be two ‘activity open space sites’ with portable shelters and picnic tables.

Phase II will included at least 14 and/or 16 additional sites, also with open space activity sites. Total new RV sites in phase I and II will be approximately 28 or 30. These shaded sites in phase I and II will be for seasonal use and will each have water with 50 amp, 30amp, and 120 volt available at each pad.

County is now taking bids to run utilities (4” water main, 600 amp service) to serve these new RV sites below the hill. Construction is expected to begin in 30 -45 days. Note: only 12 pads in phase one will be rocked this year. The remaining RV sites will be leveled but with dirt pads, which could be useable. Utilities will be in place for all the sites in phase I and the main water/electrical service for phase II will be stubbed up for later expansion to the individual sites anticipated next fiscal year.

New access roads have been built, drainage with culverts are in place, grass has been sown, and fire wood from the trees that were cut to open the sites has been stacked for resell. (Lots of fire wood ! Campers may cut their own firewood for free in designated areas of the park.)

The Cabin at Myer Creek is part of the original cabin pictured to the left. The original cabin was built around the early 1800s in eastern McLean County by the Bennett Family. It was purchased by the Story Family in the early 1900s.

The cabin has been donated to Myer Creek Park by the children and grandchildren of Cameron & Susie Story and Carl & Pattie Story (see photos below). Our thanks to the Story family for their generosity.
